Storyline

A misunderstood boy who can speak with the dead, takes on ghosts, zombies and grown-ups to save his town from a centuries-old curse.




The new full-length trailer for the animated zombie comedy event of the summer. ParaNorman, the follow-up to the Oscar nominated Coraline, is the story of a boy who must use his ability to speak with the dead to save his town from an ancient curse, a hoard of invading zombies, and their own small-mindedness.

Crawls into theaters August 17th.

Featuring the voices of Kodi Smit-McPhee, John Goodman, Anna Kendrick, Casey Affleck, Elaine Stritch, Leslie Mann, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Jeff Garlin.

The Buzz: Co-directors Chris Butler and Sam Fell and their production/effects company Laika Entertainment created Corpse Bride and Coraline, examples of how animation works best when its source material is dark and creepy. Focus Features doesn't release many animated films - and their last outing brought us the thoroughly underwhelming 9 -- but it looks like they have another original here with a premise that's much more universal than a post-apolocalyptic rag doll in a Terminator-like scenario.
